Description
* We have received reports that vehicle carrier, HOEGH LONDON (IMO: 9342205) sustained structural damage and experienced damage to cargo as a consequence of challenging weather conditions off Port Elizabeth, South Africa on 02 June 2024.
* The vessel continued its voyage to Port Elizabeth, where damaged cargo has been discharged for inspection.
* Shipowners advise that the vessel will later move to Durban where repairs will be effected before the vessel resumes its voyage to Fremantle.
* It is possible that General Average and Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
* We have already been instructed by cargo insurers and we may be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred. We also have cargo surveyors on hand to assess the extent of damage to cargo, if required.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any of the cargo stowed on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
